The Breakdance Project In Uganda

In our today's society, there are many ways to promote positive social change world- wide. Just to go straight ahead, one example would be Break Dancing...Let's help change the communities by doing something that would make you feel good inside and out. You'll know what I mean once I show some clips.

A non-Profit Organization in Uganda called Break dance Project Uganda known as "BPU" is making a great examples in creating big steps towards positive change. In my honest opinion, politically it is hard to make a change or convince an entire nation for something that you believe in. To my assumptions, So why not create some actions that everyone would be ok with?. What can of bad things can you say about Dancing?..nothing major really...right?...Would it make us Stupid?...I don't think so.

I'm pretty sure there a re a lot of other groups out there with the same aspects, small or big - formed to help out local communities and neighborhoods.

Usually, when watching clips like this, I would point out that kids are dancing on the streets barefoot, how bad and unsafe it is. This time, I have to look at it the other way, to me it shows determination not to give and who can stop them from breaking even they don't have shoes. Hopefully they got some supports for their cause and sponsors for at least some sneakers to make it look better.

Anyway check out some of this clips

Teaching and Cyphering at the Uganda Juvenile Prison how to do some basic Break dance moves.

Art Showcase Battle

About 4 months ago, i participated in an art showcase battle for one of my crew member in her school. I just got the footage today from another family crew member and I wanted to share it to everyone. I guess art does come in just about any form. something that is "limitless". on this particular subject, I believe the artist is trying to capture the movements on the ground. ever heard the quote: "the floor is my canvas, and my body is the brush"...hehe..not sure if thats the exact term...somewhat close I guess this is close to the idea.

Art Showcase battle from Joseph Reyes on Vimeo.

Im the one in adidas pants with stripes and my crew member saigon is the one on the opposite side.

Encore Status Entertainment

I will be blogging for this hip hop online magazine called "Encore Status Entertainment"...make sure you guys visit the website and check other people's blogs and reviews as well. Most likely, I will be talking about the hip hop dance community and breakdance stuff which I think I have most experience than any of the other element.

Friend or follow them also at the following:

About "Encore Status Entertainment"

Encore Status is an online magazine created to expose the under exposed. There are extremely talented unsigned and independent artists that go unnoticed…their Hardship, Hardwork, and Hustle to produce fine pieces of work often go unheard and unseen.

“New-Stream is Mainstream” is the slogan that we thrive by…

We recognize the work of these recording artists, fashion designers, artists, and filmmakers — and give them mainstream-like attention. As our name indicates, we’d like to hear more from them. Our focus, our future, and format is to compliment the artist’s ‘push’ by PULLING the outside world into theirs –using creativity and interactivity.

For Encore Status Entertainment…it truly isnt ‘About Us’ …our drive is wholeheartedly inspired by many of YOU.
